ABOUT THE BAND...
In the spring of 2002, a need arose for an ensemble of skilled musicians to accompany national recording artist Christy Bradford. This was brought to the attention of local visionary and philanthropist and Jazz Trumpeter, Gregory L. Henderson. Greg took it upon himself to form what was to become the group we now know as Total silence.
The founding core of the group was already established as they served as staff musicians at their local church in
A chance meeting in a local music store brought in Guitarist/Keyboardist and current Musical Director, Vincent Crenshaw of Winston-Salem, NC, Percussionist Sedar Jones of Jamestown, NC and Jeremiah Brown, Keyboardist/Vocalist of Charlotte, NC, which rounded out the mix of talent that would keep audiences in awe during scheduled performances. The most recent additions to the Total Silence family are Vocalist/Songwriter, Mrs. Felicia Sims and current Bassist Darron “Tripp” Thomas, both of
The band soon discovered that they not only gelled as a back-up unit for others, but that they had a unique vibe when performing their own interpretations of Jazz-influenced inspirational arrangements. With quick witty licks and hard core leads reminiscent of notable industry greats, the band pulls together a sound and intensity that has raised the standards of live music. As the band progressed, the members began to contemplate their future; all while individual talents began to blend into one cohesive groove. The band’s diverse mixture soon emerged as an asset to the final product that “is” Total Silence, as shown on the band’s first release, “Be Quiet.” With a wealth of combined experience and exposure, these accomplished musicians checked their egos at the door, and made up their minds to do what needed to be done to share their musical gifts with all those who choose to hear the inspirational messages of faith, love and hope that are missing from much of today’s music.
Since having the opportunity to perform live with recording artist, Christy Bradford, Total Silence has focused their attention on their own style and image in the music world. The band’s brand of jazz flavored Christian music fills a void in the Body of Christ that may not always look for traditional church event to enjoy inspirational music. Although each member of the band is still very much active in their respective church’s music ministries, they also welcome the opportunity to step outside traditional four walls, take the stage and groove in Jesus’ name.
So, we invite you to spend time with Total Silence whenever they are in your area, but beware, just when you lock into the tight pocket of the rhythm section, get moved by the melody of the keys, get electrified by a lead guitar riff, or moved by the words of the vocalist, it’ll be too late; the Silence will have you! And that’s when you know you’re in His presence!
